Raila is among the top politicians implicated in the flopped deal between local dealers and the Dubai royal family, alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking on Wednesday, the commentator rubbished the claims, terming it unrealistic to expect Raila to engage in such deals, saying that he is past that level.

He added that the Jubilee Party members allied to Deputy President William Ruto who have been trying to further stain Raila's name will not be successful as Kenyans will not believe them.

"I don't think Raila can be involved in such a deal, he is richer than Sh400 million. Uhuru too wouldn't be interested in such. The people naming them are missing the point," Weda said.

The analyst who doubles up as an advocate of the High Court was speaking on The Big Conversation Show on KBC English Service, Wednesday morning.

He as well urged Kenyans to remain calm, noting that the Dubai government is very unlikely to retaliate after its rulers' loss of money in the said deal.

According to Weda, the deal was a personal one which cannot result in a diplomatic tiff.

"The Sheikh engaged in a shady deal on a personal level with his Kenyan partners. This issue cannot be turned into a diplomatic tiff," he said.

Neither Raila nor Uhuru have publicly addressed the matter.
