Matungulu residents have been told to take their children for vaccination.
Area Sub County health officer Janet Ng'ethe urged the locals to support the government's initiative on polio vaccination by availing their children to public health facilities for the exercise.
Ng'ethe emphasized the importance of the vaccine to children under the age of five years.
"The initiative which will start on Thursday will be held door to door, avail your children and let the medics vaccinate them to save them from this deadly disease responsible for most of the physical disabilities," Ng'ethe said.
She addressed the press at her office after a stakeholders'meeting on Tuesday.
Ng'ethe said there was a need to vaccinate children who had been earlier vaccinated to boost their immune systems.
She said the residents should not be worried since the health workers assigned to undertake the vaccination exercise will have identification."The Health Ministry has made strides in the fight against Polio, parents, and guardians should take responsibility and play their part in this initiative for it to be successful. There's no harm if the kid is vaccinated twice or thrice," Ng'ethe said."Medics administering the vaccination will have identification so there's no need to worry about the health of your kids," Kang'ethe added.
The stakeholders meeting was held in a bid to sensitize the public on the importance of the vaccination.
