Jackson Kiplagat Mandago is the Uasin Gishu governor serving his second term in office.

Mandago was first elected in 2013 and had to fight hard against billionaire businessman Zedekiah Kiprop alias Buzeki to win re-election in the August 8, 2017, general election on Jubilee Party ticket.

The county boss is among vocal and also controversial politicians in the North Rift region.

He is never shy of speaking his mind and has often found himself in trouble over some of the remarks he makes.

Here is a look at Governor Mandago’s academic background, highest qualification and career;

Mandago was born in 1974 in Uasin Gishu where he grew up and even schooled.

He holds a Master’s Degree in Procurement and Strategic Planning from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA).

Governor Mandago also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Bio-Chemistry from Kenyatta University.

Before joining active politics, the governor was working at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

He is currently the patron of the rotary club of Uasin Gishu and also the patron of the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ACK) - Eldoret Chapter.

Mandago is among North Rift politicians expected to campaign for Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

The vocal Uasin Gishu county boss is married and has children.

He has however not declared his next political destination as he serves his final term in office.
