Some people indulge in self-destructive behaviour without even knowing it. Most of us don't realise that such behaviour can be a hindrance towards achieving our goals and reaching our destiny.

Here are four types of self-destructive behaviour you should avoid.

1. Isolating yourself from other people

People who do not spend time with their peers isolate themselves from learning new experiences that would be of importance later in life. They also hide their feelings from other people which increases their chances of suffering from depression.

2. Using sleep as an excuse

Some of us use any free time we get to sleep rather than using that time in doing something meaningful. People who do this might think it is just fine but this limits one's exposure to different life-improving experiences.

3. Taking part in drug and substance abuse

This behaviour can even lead to addiction and result in endless miseries to the addict and also their family members in the long run. People who are addicted to drug and substance abuse completely lose focus in life unless they are taken to rehab and monitored closely.

4. Self-pity

People who spend most of their lives telling themselves they are not worthy tend to deflect from their responsibilities, which ruins their lives and makes them lose opportunities to grow. They also tend to use any problem as an excuse in failing to achieve what they desire.
