Amani National Congress Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi has hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta over 'deterioration of affairs of the country'.
Addressing media in Nakuru on Sunday, Mudavadi said the government is mum despite scandals of theft of public money being witnessed in the country.
He called on the President to stop 'explaining the handshake and instead handcuff those stealing Kenyans' taxes.
"The government appears to want us to accept that the financial scandals are 'normal' provided that there is some state-led rhetoric about them. It is high time we stop explaining the handshake and engage handcuffs as billions are lost," said Mudavadi.
Mudavadi said the talk about the handshake is now enough.
"Having heard more than enough on the handshake, we demand that we must now begin seeing handcuffs. We must move from the handshake to handcuffs," said Mudavadi.
While citing the Kuresoi-based Itare Dam which has stalled despite millions being allocated, Mudavadi said it was hurting that the country will lose billions in the 'dams scandal'.
The 'dams scandal' include 40 billion allocated for the Itare Dam, 28 billion for Kimwarer Dam and Sh38 billion for the Arror in Elgeyo Marakwet.
"The only thing that seems obvious is that the Kenyan taxpayer is about to lose yet again billions of shillings in hugely suspect circumstances," he said.
The ANC leader accused the government of lying to Kenyans that Itare Dam is 49% complete yet no work is ongoing.
He called on the Embassy of Italy to come out clean on the whole matter and tell the Kenyan public what it knows about the three multi-billion projects.
"State agencies led by President must act now. The DCI and the EACC must also weigh in largely. We want to see handcuffs and not to be told about handshakes," said the ANC leader.
He threatened mass actions if President Uhuru will not act on corrupt elements in his government.
"If it is necessary, we ANC will take the country back to the era of mass action, if that is what will take to get back our country," he added.
Mudavadi is in Nakuru, accompanied by party secretary-general Barack Muluka, Sabatia MP Alfred Agoi among other leaders will tour Njoro and Kuresoi South sub-counties.
