Three people have been arrested following Wednesday's night killings in Yaitha village in Machakos.
Confirming the arrests, Machakos County Police Commander Farah Mohamed said that the trio is in police custody.
He observed that investigations are ongoing to unravel whether it was one, two or all of them that committed the heinous act.
"Three are in police custody, we are trying to figure out if they committed the act one or all of them," said Mohamed.
Mohammed urged residents to collaborate with security agents to raise security levels in the county.
"I would like to urge the public to work with the police by giving out information that may crop out criminals. If there is anyone with information about the incident should volunteer and give it to us to help in investigations," he said.
He disclosed that night patrols have been intensified in Yaitha village and its environs.
" We have all along been thinking that Yaitha market is safe until this incident transpired. We will intensify patrols in the area to fish out any criminal moreso those who maybe be involved in this case," he said.
On Wednesday night two women were murdered by an unknown gang who raided a bar in the area. The gang later went on a killing spree where they raped one of the women before killing them.
The women were sleeping in different rooms in the lodgings of the bar. The motive of the killing was not established immediately.
