National Super League (NSL) side Western Stima has sacked Coach Richard Makumbi. Reports indicate that the Ugandan tactician was shown the door due to a string of poor results.
He has been sacked a few days after the Power men were thrashed 4-1 by Kenya Premier League (KPL) side Sofapaka in Kenya Football Federation (FKF) SportPesa Shield match played at the Narok Stadium over the weekend.
Coach Paul ‘Yago’ Ogai has been appointed Western Stima interim Coach.
“The main aim is to get Stima promoted back KPL,” Ogai told this writer via phone.
Paul Ogai has been serving as assistant Coach for another NSL side, Kisumu All Stars.
His first assignment on the Stima bench comes up this weekend when the Power men host Nairobi based Kibera Black Stars, at Moi stadium in Kisumu on Saturday.
Richard Makumbi was appointed Western Stima head Coach in September last year on a two year deal.
He replaced veteran Henry Otieno Omino.
Makumbi failed to save Stima from relegation chop.
The team was relegated towards the end of last year, alongside Muhoroni Youth FC.
Western Stima lies second on the NSL log with 43 points, two behind Ken Kenyatta’s Ushuru FC after 22 rounds of matches.
The top two teams will be promoted to KPL for the 2019 season.
