President Uhuru Kenyatta has joined leaders from different parts of Kenya in mourning the death of Mastermind Tobacco founder Wilfred Murungi.

Uhuru, who is completing his second and final term in power, said that the deceased was a hardworking and dedicated entrepreneur who strived hard to change the lives of millions of Kenyans. 

The command in chief of the armed forces said that Murungi will be remembered for the effort he made to offer youths and the old jobs in the Tobacco industry. 

Murungi died on Thursday after a long battle with illness.  

“I am deeply saddened by the death of Mr Murungi. He was a man of great insight and unique leadership qualities. His commitment and determination were his strongest assets,” he said.

Murungi left British America Tobacco (BAT) in 1989 before he founded his firm. 

The stint at the company gave him an insight into transforming his life before he opened the doors of the company. Mastermind has branches in different parts of the Kenya.  

The company has been facing legal woes after it emerged that it had not settled its tax payments with Kenya Revenue Authority. Before his demise, Murungi mentored many youthful entrepreneurs in their quest for greatness.
