President Uhuru Kenyatta has been invited to Busia for a church fundraiser it has emerged.
Uhuru who won re-election after the October 26 repeat election according to Busia County Governor Sospeter Ojaamong will visit Busia to help raise part of the Sh28 million that is expected to fund the completion of the Busia Catholic Church.
The county chief, however, did not reveal when the commander in chief will make the visit.
Ojaamong made the revelation while speaking at the Busia Catholic church on Sunday during a mini-fundraiser also attended by Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa.
"This event was to be attended by COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli but he said he would come for the second fundraiser. After Atwoli, we will invite opposition leader Raila Odinga and finally President Uhuru Kenyatta," Ojaamong said.
He said following the March 9 meeting between Uhuru and Raila, political tension has reduced in the country calling on Kenyans to embrace one another and work towards developing the country.
The last time Uhuru was in Busia was during campaigns in the run up to the August 8 general election when he toured the county and initiated several development projects.
Among projects he unveiled were construction of the Busia-Malaba road as well as the tarmacking of the Malaba-Angurai-Malakisi road and Angurai-Moding-Lwakhakha road.
