Deputy President William Ruto is expected to tour Wajir County on Saturday to grace a fundraising event in support of a local madrasa.
In a post on his official Twitter account, Tarbaj MP Ahmed Bashane revealed that DP Ruto would lead the fundraiser event at Oharey grounds on Saturday, April 4, in support of Tarbaj waqf Madrasa.
"InshaaAllah this Saturday 4/5/19 ,together with @WajirCountyKE @GovernorWajir, I will host Deputy President @WilliamsRuto in Wajir Town for a fund drive in support of Tarbaj waqf( Endowment) at Orahey Grounds. Karibuni Sana. | @HonAdenDuale | @aliiroba | @HonAliKorane ," the MP tweeted.
During the Saturday visit, DP Ruto will be accompanied by regional leadership including Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale, Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi among other Jubilee legislators in the region.
DP Ruto's weekend visit to the county comes barely a month after opposition chief Raila Odinga together with Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho held a fundraiser in support of Al Fatah Islamic Institute in Wajir town.
The function is expected to cause jitters in the country given the fact that a number of religious leaders had vowed to reject donations from politicians who are perceived as being 'corrupt'.
