Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale has intensified his assault on Chief Khadhi, Ahmed Muktar over the exact date of Idul- Adha celebrations.
Speaking at General Mohamud Ground on Tuesday where he joined hundreds of Muslim faithful to mark the Idd celebrations, the vocal Garissa township MP castigated the Chief Kadhi for misleading the Muslim community on matters of religion.
He vehemently vowed to actualise his earlier threat to petition the Judicial Service Commission in a view to reviewing the Kadhi's conduct for creating confusion among the Muslims fraternity.
"We are going to write to the Judicial Service Commission Service Commission where we have a Muslim member. He should take me very seriously because this time round we will deal with him. We will not allow the chief Khadhi to divide the Muslim community and Umma along ethnic and regional basis,” he said.
“That office of the Chief Kahdi belongs to the Muslim community and you will not use that office to divide us. Idd al-Adha is anchored in the Hajj pilgrimage. The 5 days of Hajj one of the most important days is when the pilgrims are in the mount Arafat. And the second day after mount Arafat is when Idd ul-Adha is. The chief Khadhi should tell us where his mount Arafat other than the one outside the holy city of Mecca is,” he added.
Earlier on while speaking at Mombasa, the Chief Kadhi proposed the Idd al- Adha to be marked on Wednesday, 21, a move which was defied by majority Muslims faithful who observed the celebrations on Tuesday, in many parts of the world.
However, the continued attack by the Majority leader on the Chief Kadhi has stirred divergent opinions among the Muslims who thronged at General Mohamud Ground, to commemorate the Idd day.
These are some of the reactions by the converged Muslims faithful.
"The majority leader in my view should not politicize the issue and since it is a matter of religious issues, suitably approaches should be employed to settle the issue amicably," poised Mohamud Mohamed.
Issa Osman says: " This current chief Kadhi is the most notorious the Muslim community ever had. He should not divide the Muslims on matters that are universally agreed upon."
"Islam is a fully- fledged religion that does not harbour unnecessary conflict on its interpretation. The Kadhi should consult with other knowledgeable religious leaders before unleashing arbitrary proposition," posted Zainab Hussien.
Mursal Mowlid said," As I condemn the Chief Kadhi for misleading the Muslim community, he did not deserve the combined assaults he was subjected to by mostly politicians. Religious matters should be resolved sensibly devoid of aligning into political lenses."
" Let us perform our religious duties as Allah has commanded us. Mixed interpretation will only breed confusion and conflict among the Muslim community," posted Abdikadir Sahal.
