Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has urged the Kamba community to rally behind Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and believe in his endeavors.
Muthama said the community should stand fully behind Kalonzo as he vies for the presidential seat in 2022.
The politician said he had noticed that Kalonzo is losing followers due to some leaders who are trying to disqualify him in the locals' eyes.
Muthama said it's true that Kalonzo has many weaknesses but he can make a good president.
"Kalonzo is our only hope. I hear people say he is a 'coward', we should embrace and support him despite his weaknesses because he's the best shot for 2022 presidency," Muthama said.
He spoke during a burial ceremony at Ngonda village in Matungulu Sub-county on Tuesday.
Muthama said no one can out do the former Vice President despite the region having four presidential candidates.
He cited Kalonzo's 30 years experience in politics and clean bill of corruption as reasons why he is the best bet for the top seat.
"I have heard that Ukambani region alone has four candidates, two in Kitui, one in Makueni and another in Machakos. They should know that they are just a drop in the ocean," Muthama said.
Muthama said the region's political strength will go down if the locals fail to support the Wiper leader.
He said it will take the region a couple of years to have a competent and able leader like Kalonzo.
