A 30-year-old man has lost his life after falling into a river in Wamunyu area of Mwala Sub County in Machakos.

The man identified as Muli Nthenge was heading to Wamunyu market from home when the tragedy struck.

He is said to have suffered an epilepsy attack that made him fall in the river where he drowned.

The incident was confirmed by Wamunyu location Chief Justus Mutuku who said that the lifeless body of the man was discovered floating on the river by residents who raised alarms.

"He is from Kituyu and was heading to Wamunyu market from home when he suffered an epileptic attack and fell into the river," Mutuku said.

The chief observed that police from Masii police station visited the scene and moved the body to Machakos Level Five hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting post-mortem.

He warned residents against leaving epileptic patients unattended to so as to avoid such occurrences.

"I urge locals to ensure that their relatives who suffer from epilepsy are not left unattended since they may suffer an attack anytime. Maybe if this young man was accompanied, his life would have been saved," he noted.
