Two days after the loss of two top county officials through a tragic accident, Governor John Nyagarama says he's still heartbroken and cannot believe the news.
County Assembly Human Resource Deputy Director Enock Nyakundi and Bonyamatuta ward administrator Paul Nyatuka died on Monday near Sironga High School.
In a statement, Governor Nyagarama described the two as hard-working workers who were dedicated to serve Nyamira people with zeal.
"I am still heartbroken with the news. They were very hard-working servants and didn't deserve to die like that. It's a big loss to the county government at large," Nyagarama said.
Mr Nyakundi died on the spot along with a bodaboda rider who was trailing him while Nyatuka, who served as an administrator in the governor's home ward, succumbed to injuries on his way to Tenwek Hospital.
County Speaker Moffat Teya also described the deaths as a big loss, lauding the contributions the two had to the county during their time.
"I received the news with great shock. These two servants were dedicated. It's a huge loss for us. May God grant peace to all their family members and friends," he said.
