Migori County boss Okoth Obado says he's 'still not free' and will appeal 'stringent' conditions imposed upon him by the High Court Judge Jessie Lessit, a source says.
On Friday, Obado however thanked the court for admitting his bail application, which saw him secure freedom after over four weeks at Industrial Area prison over the death of Sharon Otieno.
"I want to thank the court for allowing my bail application. I will abide by the rules as stipulated in the ruling," he said in a statement.
Mr. Obado along with his aides Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero are facing murder charges and will return to court on May 2019 when Sharon Otieno's murder trial commences.
But according to one of his close aide, his lawyers will move back to court to contest the condition that banned him from coming close to 20 kilometres within Migori and Homa Bay Counties.
"They are impractical and will only provide avenues for Mr Obado to be remanded immediately. We are still consulting but appeal is inevitable," said the source.
"This is like another remand prison life, away from Industrial Area," he added.
Mr. Obado usually takes a flight to Kisumu before driving along Homa Bay to Migori. Alternatively, he uses Kisii route which also lands him near Homa Bay thus making the condition impractical.
Other conditions he must abide by is depositing his travelling documents, avoiding any contact with Sharon Otieno's family and key witnesses and desisting from mentioning the murder case in political rallies.
