Reports that police in Migori had recovered a Toyota Fielder believed to have been used by Sharon Otieno’s killers breathed a new lease of life into the investigations of the brutal murder.
The car was impounded on Sunday.
Its driver has been arrested and will be held for two weeks to help in investigations.
According to police, the vehicle was being driven by a senior Migori county official when police sighted it and pounced.
The identity of the official has not been revealed but sources said he had hired the car.
The Fielder is said to operate as a taxi in Migri town.
Investigators will be establishing whether the driver was among the four occupants journalist Barrack Oduor said abducted him and Sharon.
A source said a possible parade might be organized in order for the journalist to identify the suspect.
Questions have also been asked on why it took two weeks to apprehend a car that operates in the town.
