In a tweet on Wednesday, Amollo, a close ally of ODM leader Raila Odinga said they are justified to remain silent after Kenyans downplayed their initial attempts to intervene.

He wondered why Kenyans are now calling upon opposition leaders to come to their aid, saying that its time others came in to salvage the suffering Kenyans.

Amollo mocked Jubilee Party leaders and supporters who backed President Uhuru Kenyatta under the 'Tano Tena' (Five More) slogan, saying it's their time to take over.

"We Spoke Enough! We Can’t Be The Only 'Speakers'! The Space To Speak is Open. Who Has Stopped Everyone From Speaking? Especially The Tano Tena Group?" he tweeted.

The MP was responding to a Twitter user who wondered why the opposition is silent on the government's attempts to squeeze more money from Kenyans to implement its housing agenda.

"Why are our leaders so silent on this issue? How is a voter in kadzandani or a mama Mboga in Rarieda, or a Turkana who can’t even get water or food benefit from such a project?" wondered the user under the name Adalla.

This comes at a time when the opposition has gone completely silent and seems to have lost its initial passion to keep the government in check.

This can be traced back to 2018 when Raila reached a truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta, after which the two announced that they will work together henceforth.
