A 51-year-old man shocked villagers in Nyamusi, Nyakenimo sub location in Nyamira County after abandoning his wife and two kids over jiggers attack.
It is alleged that Eldanus Mochere abandoned his wife, Valerian Kemunto and their 7 kids on grounds that he don't want to be attacked by jiggers.
"Mochere relocated from home two months ago and went to live at a rented house at Ikonge accusing his 'dirty' wife for failing to maintain cleanliness in the home," said a local Dominic Nyaanga.
Mr. Nyaanga said the wife and the kids are severely attacked by jiggers adding that local leaders should intervene to help the family.
"Our leaders should intervene because no one in the family is working. There no food, bedding and the state of the family's single mud-walled house is poor," he noted.
Area assistant chief Edward Mamwancha said efforts to persuade Mochere to return home has been in vain.
"Men should not boycott their duties. Mochere will be arrested to be arraigned in court where he will be charged over negligence since he has refused to return to his home and take care of his family," he said.
The chief urged locals to maintain cleanliness so that they can curb jiggers attack.
