For the sixth time this year, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has snubbed DP William Ruto's tour to his Gusii backyard.

Early this year, Matiang'i had projected himself as the de facto leader who could both arrange and supervise Ruto's tours ahead of 2022 elections.

And on Saturday at Kemera, in Matiang'i's Nyamira home and Nyabururu Parish, Mr Matiang'i was conspicuously absent further raising eyebrows.

"Leaders attend such development meetings at their own will. If his schedule was tight, we must respect that.

"All we should talk of is the launching of projects in our constituency. I am pretty sure that Matiang'i would have come of he was free," said Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose, who hosted the DP.

And only Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka, a staunch supporter of Ruto toured as a visiting guest to at least minimise embarrassment for Mose.

Matiang'i instead chose to attend a fundraiser at Kaptembwa in Nakuru, under the invitation of Samuel Arama, an MP from Nakuru who hails from Nyamira.

Early this year, sources intimated that OP had banned Matiang'i from attending Ruto's trips to Gusii and other parts of the country under unclear circumstances.

In August, the outspoken minister shared podium with Ruto at former minister Henry Obwocha's burial but unlike in the past, he did not push for his 2022 bid.
