Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has termed reports that Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine sustained head injuries in military torture as 'fake news'.
This comes even as protests were staged in various countries in support of the singer cum politician.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Museveni insisted that the vocal MP was in good health contrary to social media reports that he was severely injured in military detention.
“The fake news generators and even some of the elements of the security forces are concentrating on the stoning of the President's car. Please, that is not the most serious problem here.
"That President has the capacity, either alone or in company with his personal security, to defend himself, not only against stone throwers but against any attacker,” read the statement.
A few people who had been given access to the MP said he appeared weak and frail with some insisting that he had severe head injuries.
“I decided to check with Army doctors because, being a disciplined army, UPDF doctors always take precautions in such situations.
"Bobi Wine had already been seen by doctors in Arua, Gulu and Kampala. He has no head or chest injuries or bone fractures, they informed me,” added the president.
On Monday, protests rocked Busia town when a section of Kenyans thronged into streets to demand for the release of Bobi Wine.
Kyagulanyi was remanded to the barracks after appearing before the General Court Martial in Gulu, where he was charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
For the better part of Sunday, KOT massacred Museveni's tactics with some lynching DP William Ruto who had coincidentally visited Kampala over the weekend.
