After conceding grounds over calls to amend the constitution, DP William Ruto has reportedly resorted to two strategies to keep his opponents on toes.
With the rest of the country calling for the amendments, Mr. Ruto strategically joined the 'Yes' team albeit with conditions.
But back at the boardroom, reports the Nation, the DP is closely working with a political network he has created for over years to his own benefit.
"He has a political intelligence team that is connecting him across the country. This team comprises of friends he has met over years," says Caleb Kositany, the Soy MP.
Another strategy in the line is working with grassroot elected leaders among them MPs and MCAs and to a larger extent; governors.
To make the plan work, a source says, Ruto has established a mini-secretariat are Karen which is specifically meant to coordinate his movements.
"It is working closely with him to establish networks with local politicians. This is is the main strategy he has been relying on," a former MP aspirant from Nyamira says.
To manage a possible fallout in Jubilee, Ruto has reportedly put on table a 'Plan B' which will be used if Jubilee party is wretched.
“The Jubilee Party leadership no longer reads from the same script,” said an MP from Rift Valley who is close to Mr Ruto, suggesting obliquely that there is always a “Plan B” if the hostility in the ruling party becomes unbearable.
Recently, Ruto accused former Prime Minister Raila Odinga of allegedly using the handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta to frustrate him.
