Dock workers want President Kenyatta, who is completing his second and final term in office, to disclose the details of the agreement with his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni.

According to the workers, the construction of the dry port, which is part of the joint Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project, could affect Kenyans in different ways.

Speaking on behalf of the workers, Dock Workers Union (DWU) Secretary-General Simon Sang said that they want the deal made public so that citizens of this nation can now where the country is headed.

He said that more than 7,000 port workers want the details of the agreement, adding that Kenya must benefit from the deal if it has to be implemented.

“What is more important is under what conditions should the land be given out. There is nothing wrong with giving incentives to investors but we must have conditions that take care of our interests,” Mr Sang said as quoted by Daily Nation.

During his tour to Kenya last week, Museveni and Uhuru promised to continue working together for the sake of the development of both countries.
