Two people have been confirmed dead and another seriously injured in a Friday morning accident in Kisumu.
The accident which happened at Kisian junction, along the Kisumu-Busia Highway involved a passenger bus travelling to Kisumu and a saloon car headed in the opposite direction.
Confirming the incident, Kisumu Traffic Base Commandant Jane Mbevi said that the accident was a head on collision between the two vehicles.
She added that the bus was trying to overtake another car before colliding with the Toyota Wish Saloon car, reports the Citizen Digital.
The two died on the spot, while the injured passenger was rushed to hospital for treatment.
The accident comes amid an ongoing attempt by the state to curb such situations on our roads.
It comes amid an ongoing crackdown on roadworthy vehicles in the public transport sector, as the government as well attempts to nab traffic offenders and drivers and conductors not adhering to set guidelines.
In the campaign that started on Monday seeking to reinstall initial regulations dubbed ‘Michuki Rules’ several operators have found themselves in trouble with a good number of vehicles and motorcycles ending up in police custody after being impounded for failing the tests.
