Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family enjoy cordial ties despite the two having been arch rivals in the political arena. When Raila’s son Fidel Odinga passed on, President Uhuru deployed state machinery to give him a befitting send off. Raila was not happy when a section of mourners tried to shut down a messenger from State House.

He revealed that Uhuru was there for him when he needed friends most, adding that it was wrong for the mourners to heckle at his messenger during the funeral service for his departed son, Fidel, at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology.

He reminded the mourners that it was unethical for them to shut down the messenger especially during a burial. “Uhuru was with me at home and in church to mourn Fidel. He deployed the entire State machinery to ensure Fidel gets a decent burial, then all you do is shout down his messenger. It is wrong!” said Mr Odinga.

The death of Fidel was a great blow to the family of the opposition leader. Fidel was among the news makers before he died. He, however, did not venture so much in the political arena.
