Police in Machakos are probing an incident in which a prominent businessman was found dead in Matuu while holding a plate of rice and thermos flask on Saturday morning.
It remains unclear whether the businessman died naturally or was killed.
Confirming the incident, Matuu police chief Eric Ngetich said the deceased had no visible marks on his body when he was discovered dead on that fateful morning.
Ng'etich told journalists that police have launched investigations into the matter.
He urged members of the public to remain calm and share information that could lead to the man's murderers arrests if any.
Ng'etich said it remains unclear whether the deceased only identified as Joe was forced to hold the items or had them before he met his tragic death.
"It is an unfortunate and puzzling incident. The deceased has been identified as Joe, a prominent businessman in the area. He was found dead on his car seat. We are not sure whether he had the plate of rice and a thermos flask or they had been forced on him," Ng'etich told a local daily.
Police reportedly recovered handcuffs from the deceased's shop after they broke into it.
Ng'etich said police will not leave any stone unturned as far as the deceased's death is concerned.
