Dp Ruto has claimed the African Union envoy Raila Odinga fell for gold fraudsters' tricks when he intercepted them while making the deals.
Speaking at St.Francis Xavier Catholic church service in Naivasha constituency, Nakuru county, the deputy president argued that he did not see impounding of fake mineral business deals as one of the responsibilities that Raila was to assume when given the job.
The video of Dp Ruto's speech was shared by Love Child on his official Facebook page.
"Part of the assignment for our friend when we negotiated the AU post for him didn't include prospecting for minerals, sale or merchandising of any nature," said Ruto.
Ruto opined that the former premier had fallen to the trap of fraudulent imposters who dragged him into their underhand deals.
"It must have been a trap laid to him by crooks and that is why they dragged him (Raila) into that business," observed Ruto.
The deputy president wants the fraudsters who implicated Raila and others in the scam to desist from framing president Uhuru in their illegitimate business.
"I want to request those who framed our friend (Raila) to desist from dragging the president's name into their deals," remarked the deputy president.
He defended Jubilee administration's moral standing while stating that the phone conversation that took place during the transaction had nothing to do with the ruling party.
The scam, which heavily fixed Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula, has made Kenya a laughing stock internationally hence, threatening business careers of Kenyans who had been trading with the Arabs for a long time, according to Ruto.
