Emerging details indicate that the shock and pain were more pronounced in Opoda Farm, Raila's home in Bondo, a few kilometres from Kang'o Ka Jaramogi which is the home of Fidel's grandfather and founding Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.

This was as soon as villagers back at home got wind that the jovial lad had passed on in Nairobi.

Opoda was immediately transformed into a noisy place as villagers trooped there to register their agony.

Guards whose main job for years had been to keep vigil at the zone were all of a sudden changed into ushers, as they welcomed and ushered mourners into the vast homestead.

Others who were considered not fit to access the premises were locked out as relatives and others were granted access as reported by the Standard.

At exactly 11:30 am, it is recorded, Fidel's cousin Albert Ojwang' held the first press conference in the home and confirmed the rumours after getting information on the phone.

This was only two months after the two young men and friends had met at the Nyanza Club in Kisumu little did they know they would not meet again.

His death apparently threw Raila back to the drawing board with regards to his position as the Luo Nyanza political kingpin, a seat he was expected to pass down to Fidel but alas!

Fidel's burial was rushed and was done on Saturday, January 10, barely a week after his death.

He was buried at the family cemetery in Kang'o.
