Political analyst Edward Kisiangani now claims that the Western Kenya region will not produce a President for the nation in its current state.
In a tweet on Sunday, Kisiangani who happens to hail from the same community faulted the region’s leaders for empty talk and lack of commitment towards propelling one of their own to the top seat.
He further laughed off the ongoing attempts by some leaders to unite under one umbrella, terming it empty rhetoric backed with no solid ideology.
According to the commentator, the leaders have as well failed to bring out the region’s entire potential courtesy of voter registration, making all of them incapable of occupying the house on the hill.
‘’A Luhyia cannot become President if they cannot construct an electrifying agenda that can unify the community in particular and our entire Republic in general. How can people unite around nothing? This Luyia unity talk is a stillbirth and a total waste of time,’’ reads the tweet.
''Just a hypothetical question! Can a Luhyia become President? But not when no leader from there is interested in using their resources and influence to get the millions of unregistered voters from the community on the voters' roll!’’ reads another.
The region, he added, is further a victim of internal disputes and political divisions, attributing its political woes to divided leaders who have expressed inability to cooperate for a common goal.
‘’I keep hearing the boring calls for Luhyia unity. Against who and for what is this expected unity? Just having a Luhyia in power means nothing to me. Prominent Luhyia leaders are not even known to help their own. They block and fight their own,’’ reads another tweet.
This, however, comes at a time when both Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula have announced their bids for the coming 2022 polls.
