Ndile said the governor is more popular among Kambas and Kenyans than Kalonzo Musyoka.

Addressing the press in Kibwezi Town on Saturday, Ndile said Kalonzo should shelve his presidential bid so as to support Mutua's.

He said the Supreme Court ruling that upheld Mutua's victory has made him more popular among Kenyans.

"I think Governor Mutua is more popular than Kalonzo and stands a higher chance of being elected president in 2022 than Kalonzo," Ndile said.

The former lawmaker said Kalonzo's popularity has declined and should consider quitting politics.

Ndile said Kambas and Kenyans want a visionary leader who will spearhead the country's development agenda.

He said Kalonzo has no development record to speak for even as he seeks to vie for the presidential seat in the next polls.

Ndile said Kambas will easily rally behind Mutua as their presidential candidate in 2022.

Both Kalonzo and Mutua have declared their interests in the 2022 presidential seat.

Mutua maintains that he has what it takes to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the next polls.

The Maendelo Chap Chap governor has ruled out stepping down for Kalonzo or any other candidate.

Kalonzo has equally ruled out shelving his 2022 presidential dream.

The former Vice President says it is his time to ascend to power.

On Friday, the Supreme Court validated Mutua's victory, ruling that he was validly elected in the August 8, 2017, general election.
