There is no doubt that Migori politician David Osiany is one of the most promising politicians in the country today. However, that will only remain a theory if he does not finally clinch an elective position in the region. Is 2022 going to be his year?

Having burst into politics in the run to the 2013 election, the former University of Nairobi (UoN) students' leader was expected to give the then Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno a run for his money and possibly clinch the seat. However, his journey ended during ODM nominations.

Then came 2017. With Otieno becoming increasingly unpopular, Osiany had another chance to finally convert his big political name to real success. But once again, he lost to a novice-Paul Abuor in the ODM nominations. And the journey ended there, for the second time.

In 2018, following the death of Migori Senator Ben Okello, the youthful politician was touted as his possible successor. But his journey to Parliament was once again dealt a blow when ODM, the region's popular party settled on former Rongo MP Ochilo Ayacko as its candidate.

So, going into the next general election, is Osiany finally going to live to the billing that he is Raila's possible successor?
