Former AFC Leopards striker Bonface Ambani has dismissed complains by the club that they lost accidentally to Tanzanian giants Simba SC in the Sportpesa Super cup last Wednesday.
“Sport pesa Super cup is not a tournament recognized by FIFA and players who are on trial are free to play, so I do not see why AFC Leopards should waste time raising such an irrelevant complain,” said Ambani who was speaking on a national radio station.
According to Ambani, who won the 1998 Kenya Premier League title with Leopards, it is high time the officials of the club brought order to help restore the old glory days.
Ingwe has raised complains in a letter signed by the head of delegation Saul Shikuku Abwao outlining that Lamine Moro was not supposed to feature fir Simba SC in the Wednesday’s tie in Tanzania.
The letter went further to state that Moro did not have the license to play in the tournament and that he is yet to complete his move to Simba SC from Buildcon FC.
Ingwe crushed out of the Sportpesa Super cup in the Wednesday afternoon tie, after failing 2-1 in the hands of the on form Simba SC.
“They should discard the letter and focus on their upcoming tasks, it is a shame for a big club like Ingwe to focus on such a petty issue," added Ambani, who is also the Kenya Premier League all-time leading top scorer in a single season (26 goals).
