Ruto earlier in the week rubbished claims that 11 Kenyans has starved to death in Baringo and Turkana counties, as the ongoing famine reported in 13 counties continues to bite.

Speaking on Saturday, nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura poked holes into Ruto's denials, wondering why he is denying something already in the public domain and clearly known to many.

He indirectly reminded the DP that most Kenyans are up-to-date on the issue, thanks to the many media outlets, and his attempts to convince them otherwise are useless.

"We cannot tell people that there are no deaths yet they have been seeing and hearing in the media people narrating how they have lost their kin to hunger," he pointed out.

The vocal lawmaker was speaking on Radio  Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday morning.

At the same time, the Senator called upon the presidency arm of government to be very keen to prevent top officials using the situation to fill their pockets with public funds.

He warned that the group could easily use the food shortage and need to avail relief food to the affected persons to defraud the government, in the name of feeding the hungry.

"Let people not use this as an opportunity to draw monies from the Treasury. Its at such times when people attempt to get more as they prepare for the elections," he added.

This comes at a time when the Ministry of Devolution and Special Programs has assured the nation that it has enough resources to combat the situation.
