Justice Jessie Lessit on Wednesday granted Obado’s bail application, a judgment that came as a relief to the county boss who has remained in remand for close to a month.

However, this comes as a blow to among others, his Deputy Nelson Mwaita who was to automatically ascend to the top seat were the Governor to be convicted.

This way, he would have made an easy match to the top seat without having to endure heavy and costly campaigns and the headache of forming political alliances and dealing with political parties.

On the other side is the opposition’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) which was apparently enjoying his detention basing on his rebellious nature.

Before his arrest in mid-September, Obado had repeatedly differed with ODM’s choice of Ochillo Ayacko for the county’s vacant senatorial seat, though the former Cabinet Minister went ahead to win in his absence.

And with the Governor on the loose, he is likely to embark on the same, a move that could further shake the already ailing Orange party, considering that Obado enjoys a massive backing in the county.

Senator-elect Ochillo Ayacko will as well find himself in trouble, especially with regards to his anticipated gubernatorial bid in the approaching 2022 race.

With the Governor away he would have had an easy job winning but with him now out, Obado will most likely endorse another candidate who could render Ayacko’s bid a hollow dream.

Before his arrest, Obado was apparently on the side of Federal Party of Kenya (FPK) candidate Eddy Oketch who went ahead to give Ayacko a hard time in the senatorial race, raising the question; what will happen with him out?

On the side of the residents, they can now be assured of better services, after a section decried poor public services and laxity in county offices after Obado’s arrest.

With him back in office, they can expect streamlined services.
