Just few days after surviving long-term imprisonment over money laundering and fraud charges, Don Bosco Gichana snubbed his Gusii backyard for Mombasa.
After his official release on Monday, Mr. Gichana would be seen at his Nairobi home with Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi and Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei.
But contrary to expectations of many that he was to link up with his supporters in Kisii, Don Bosco opted for Mombasa.
In the coastal town, Mr. Gichana is only accompanied by close family members and friends.
Over the weekend, he was pictured along with few MCAs from Nyamira who are in a retreat with county executives.
It is rumoured that Mr. Gichana could have a stab at Kisii gubernatorial seat in 2022 after the retirement of Governor James Ongwae.
Combined efforts by Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta saw Mr. Gichana, a man credited for funding Raila's campaigns, pleading guilty for lesser charges in Tanzania.
He was given five years sentence but was released upon paying Sh15 million fine since he has already served the term in detention.
