Embattled Migori Governor Okoth Obado visited Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinet hours after Sharon Otieno's murder, reports the Standard.
The slain Rongo University student was abducted along with Nation journalist Barack Oduor before her mutilated body was retrieved from Kodera forest a day later.
And under mysterious circumstances, Obado was seen during the fateful day at Jogoo house specifically to meet Boinet, a claim his lawyer Cliff Ombeta has since denied.
“I am not aware, unless I find out from the client then come back to you,” said Ombeta.
Also, Boinet could neither confirm nor deny the reports even as detectives intensify crackdown on the mysterious murder.
In a statement recorded at the police, Obado confirmed that he had a relationship with Sharon and that he had informed his family about it.
"The relationship was open. My family was briefed about it in April so there is nothing to hide."
Sources claim that in the detailed statement, Obado implicated his PA Michael Oyamo, who is still in police custody, after claiming that he had conspired with a former MCA to misuse Sharon by extorting money from him.
Mr. Oyamo has since been remanded as investigations to the murder intensify.
