Religion, they say, is the opium of the mind.
For a person running away from 'funny beliefs', this mantra is reason enough to dismiss and even castigate religion.
However, there is always something one believes in - a form of religion. This could be spiritual bodies, abstract objects like love and hatred, or science.
One thing, all these beliefs appear funny and sometimes without a convincing basis.
If you are a resident of Kibera and the wider Nairobi, you must by now have met followers Dr David Owuor of the Repentance and Holiness Ministries.
According to this flock, their leader David Owuor was anointed by God Himself from heaven.
While narrating about his anointment, Owuor has said that God appeared to him and physically touched his mouth as a way of appointing him to the ministry.
His believers go with his narration that after touching him, God took Owuor to a section of his house and left him there to walk back to his bedroom one day in 2003.
The ministry also holds that God later came to Owuor together with prophets Moses, Elijah and Daniel.
This prompted him to return to Kenya and establish his church in Nakuru before spreading wings to the rest of Kenya and the world.
