Kalenjin elders, led by their patron Gibert Kabage have demanded President Uhuru Kenyatta to declare whether he still supports Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
"We challenge President Uhuru to come out clear and say whether he still supports DP Ruto's 2022 bid. He should state whether he has changed his mind," said Mr. Kabage.
Speaking in Nakuru, the elders also insisted that President Kenyatta should facilitate them with details of the MOU he had with NASA leader Raila Odinga.
This comes barely a week after President Kenyatta met with his deputy, DP Ruto to discuss rumors of division in Jubilee party.
However, residents had varied opinions on this matter. Here are some of their views on the Kalenjin elders demand to President Kenyatta:
“First of all, the elders should have asked what Uhuru agreed with Ruto in their closed-door meeting, of course, they struck a mutual benefiting deal,” said Kimani.
“Funny how Kalenjin elders think they can make demands to President Uhuru. Watajua hawajui!!!” joked Kimani.
“Yeah, he must declare his stand on Ruto’s 2022 bid. We supported him, it’s his turn now,” said Mercy Cherop.
“I think these two are playing a certain game with Kenyans. Why do they have a meeting yet they are a boss and a deputy?” Mukae said.
“All will be good DP Ruto, let’s wait for 2022,” assured Kimtai.
“Too bad elders, Prezzo won’t do that,” said Sami.
“It will be good if the president concentrates on crucial matters concerning the country than matters of an individual,” said MC Bluesea.
“Wait for 2022 elders, achana sumbua president said, we still have a long way,” Kitui said.
