A Nakuru man has been sentenced to life imprisonment after a court found him guilty of sodomy.
Hesbon Mogare, 25, was on Wednesday convicted for sodomizing the 8-year-old boy in Sindenet Village, Njoro Sub County.
In her ruling, Nakuru Senior Resident Magistrate Eunice Kelly said that the sentence was the only option as the offence is unforgivable.
“I have considered the charges of the accused and his mitigation. He is sentenced to life imprisonment for his crimes,” the Magistrate was quoted by the Standard.
During the hearing of the case, the court heard that the accused repeatedly committed the inhumane act in his house for over three days between September 2 and 4, 2017.
According to the class three boy who testified in court, the accused requested for his help to carry charcoal to his house before turning against him.
“I was herding my grandfather’s sheep but two of the sheep started fighting and one was killed. I was afraid to go back to my grandfather’s house to avoid punishment so I decided to go to my uncle’s but I met the accused on the way,” the boy had told the court.
He said that he was locked in the house for three days and forced to watch pornographic videos on the accused's phone.
In his defence, the accused said that he was framed by the victim's father even after medical reports indicated that the boy was I deed sodomised.
“I worked for the father of the victim as a herdsman. I spoilt his motorcycle and he has since sought revenge on me. I deny ever committing the offence," Mogare told the court.
He said he is the sole provider of this family and asked the court to be lenient in him.
The accused has 14 days to appeal the ruling.
