Writing on Twitter on Saturday, Mr Osumba claimed that Peter Kenneth was being accused of committing crimes that he didn't commit.

According to him, the crime Mr Kenneth is being alleged to have committed at Kenya Re, an insuarance company, occurred in 2005 long after he had left.

"#ArrestPeterKenneth context. Why is a crime committed in 2005 after @Peter_Kenneth left Kenya Re in 2002 being associated with his term?

"In any case in his term he grew profits from 79M when he joined to 251M. #PKFactsOnly," Ronald Osumba tweeted.

Peter Kenneth has long faced allegations of financial crimes orchestrated at the insuarance company.

He has strongly denied those allegations, saying that a court of law never found him guilty of any wrongdoing.

A few weeks ago, Governor Sonko hit out at the former presidential candidate, saying that Peter Kenneth had ran down Kenya Re.

Peter Kenneth sought the governing Jubilee party nomination certificate for the Nairobi gubernatorial contest but lost to Sonko who went on to win the seat.

Ronnie Osumba acted as Peter Kenneth's running mate in the 2013 elections which were won by Jubilee.
