Deputy President William Ruto has cautioned politicians who are planning to introduce a motion in Parliament that will limit the amount of money civil servants can donate in harambees (fundraisers).
DP Ruto said those with plans to curtail contributions will perish due to God's anger on those wanting to stop the work of God.
The DP who is known to be a generous man when it comes to church donations said most churches need support to survive.
He urged the legislators to focus on passing laws that will help improve the lives of Kenyans instead of targeting the Church.
Ruto speaking on Sunday in Vihiga County during the 70th anniversary celebrations of the African Divine Church (ADC) said he will continue to donate money to the church despite critics.
“People want to use Parliament to derail the work of God. This is a sign of the last days. I want to tell MPs that the day they go to Parliament with a motion against the church of God, that is when they will perish,” said Ruto as quoted by nation.co.ke.
National Assembly minority leader John Mbadi had planned to introduce the motion seeking to limit the amount of money people should contribute in churches.
Mbadi had proposed amendments to the Public Officer Ethics Act that will cap harambee contributions to Sh100,000.
