Minutes after his name was unveiled, President Uhuru Kenyatta withdrew it thus sparking speculations among social media users.

But a source privy to the intriguing events says Ayacko informed State House about the agreement and excused himself from the appointment.

"The president was not aware of the agreement and he appointed Ochillo based on competency. However, Ayacko informed him immediately after the appointment.

"In fact, I am told Raila also reached the president as they sought replacement. Ochillo will run for Migori senatorial elections," said the source in confidence.

Early this week, Raila reconciled Ochilo and Migori Governor Okoth Obado during Senator Ben Oluoch's funeral, igniting debate on the secret MOU.

It is believed that a concerned Raila reached Ayacko and persuaded him to run for senatorial seat after months of intrigues with the governor has has reportedly 'hurt' the economy of Migori.

And in return, Ayacko was given a go ahead to prepare for his 2022 gubernatorial bid after losing narrowly to Obado in 2017. His place was taken by Paddy Ahenda, a Raila loyalist.
