According to budget allocations, the country is set to spend Sh3.02 trillion. This will be the biggest expenditure plan Kenya has had since independence.

The money will be allocated in various agencies, departments, the Judiciary, the Parliament and the 47 counties.

The remaining amount will be sent to the Consolidated Fund Services (CFS). Here, this money is used to pay salaries of constitutional commissions and various debts the country owes.

The 2019/2020 financial year’s budget will see the government alone spending Sh 1.7 billion to run its operations and payment of salaries.

A further Sh371.6 billion will be shared among the 47 counties while CFS will receive Sh805.8 billion.

Parliament, Judiciary and equalization fund will receive Sh43.6 billion, Sh18.9 billion and Sh5.8 billion respectively.

A bigger share of the new financial year’s budget will come from taxpayers, while the rest will be borrowed.

So far, Kenya’s debt is worrying and this means it will go even worse in the coming financial year.
