A joint sitting of parliament will be held on Tuesday 18th following president Uhuru Kenyatta's decision to reject Finance Bill, 2018.
Parliament had passed amendments to the bill thus rejecting 16 per cent VAT on petroleum products, a move which has since been rejected by the president.
The latest turnout of events means Kenyans shall continue shouldering new fuel taxes despite the outcry across the country.
Speaker Justin Muturi, in a special Gazette notice, recalled parliament from recess to give Uhuru audience over his decision to reject the bill.
Kenyans hope now lies squarely in parliament which may decide to side with him should he convince MPs on Tuesday.
Alternatively, MPs, through two-thirds majority, can compel the president to assent to the bill.
Since Monday, Uhuru has kept quiet amid escalating fuel prices in the country which translates to high cost of living.
