Kiambu Woman Rep Gathoni Wa Muchomba has accused Governor Ferdinand Waititu of mischief saying it is hard that he was not aware of the controversial allocations found in the Auditor General's report during his grilling at the Senate on Thursday.
According to Wa Muchomba, excuses about the controversial expenses are just hot air.
She argues that this is Waititu's plot to divert public attention from 'phoney imprests, ballooning wage bill and the Kaa sober programme' where money running into millions of shillings could have been stolen, reports the Nation.
“Waititu knows exactly where those figures came from and you might be surprised that he was the one who fixed them. Waititu is trying to hide his own problem to create an uproar to so as to divert attention from the issues that are really contentious touching on graft," Wa Muchomba is quoted by the Nation.
The Auditor-General's report for 2017/2018 budget expenditure showed that the county allocated Sh973 million for coordination of State House functions, Sh58 million for South Sudan peace process while Sh804 million was allocated for free primary education.
None of the above expenditures falls under devolved functions.
