The latest terror attack on Kenyan soil happened a week ago when suspected Al-Shabaab fighters raided DusitD2 in Nairobi's 14 Riverside Drive Complex.
In the attack which detectives are still investigating, 21 people were killed and more than 78 injured in the incident which the Somali-based terrorists have claimed responsibility.
This was not the first time terrorists were targeting Kenya as in the last three years the country has faced about 100 attacks which last left more than 350 people dead.
This means terrorists can strike anytime and anywhere and it is, therefore, important for you to know what you need to do in case you are caught up in an attack.
According to United Kingdom High Commissioner in Kenya Nic Hailey, you are supposed to remain vigilant every moment but in case of a terrorist attack when you are around, you need to do three things.
You should avoid direct confrontation with terrorists by running away from them, look for a suitable place to hide. While hiding, find a way of communicating with people away from the scene.
These can be your relatives, police, media or any other person who can offer help.
"The best advice we can give anyone caught up in a terror attack is: Run, hide, tell," Hailey said during an interview with Citizen TV on Sunday.
The High Commissioner observed terrorism was a modern day reality and promised that the UK will join hands with Kenya to help fight this crime.
"Terrorism is a global threat. Terrorists attack our way of life but we have to make sure their acts do not change our way of life," said Hailey.
