Kakamega ex-senator Boni Khalwale has advised ODM leader Raila Odinga to lobby for compensation of Muhoroni residents over land in which an industrial park is to be constructed.
Through his Twitter account, Khalwale said that the people who were displaced during the construction of the standard gauge railway were compensated, and the same should apply to Muhoroni residents.
"If it was right for the people along the SGR route to be compensated for their land, then the people of Muhoroni too deserve it for their 500-acre land," read part of his post.
He further urged Raila to take advantage of the handshake, to advocate for the process of making up for the 500-acre piece of land in order to end disaffections amongst the affected locals.
"Raila Odinga must leverage on the handshake to hasten this," noted Khalwale.
The former Ikolomani legislator disclosed how he had to use constituency development fund to reimburse locals, who were displaced in order to allow construction of Malinya stadium in his constituency.
He wants Raila to emulate him on the same matter to end altercations.
