The 2015 world 400 metres hurdles champion Nicholas Bett will be laid to rest this Thursday.

Burial date had earlier been set for Friday but the family confirmed to have brought forward to Thursday.

Bett who died in a tragic road accident along the Eldoret-Kapsabet road on Wednesday will be laid to rest at his Simat home in Uasin Gishu county.

Already several burial committees have been put in place to ensure he is given a befitting sendoff.

It is understood that the National Police Service, Bett’s employers, will take the lead in the funeral arrangements.

Already the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has formed a committee to oversee the burial.

Athletics Kenya National Police Service chairman Joseph Kiget will head the committee that has representatives from different departments, a representative from Athletics Kenya's headquarters and the sports ministry.

Athletes and the family also have their own committees. 

“Bett was a great man and that is why everyone who knew him wants to be involved. At some stage, we shall amalgamate the committees and share notes,” Kiget was quoted by Nation.
