A Catholic priest in Kisii county has strongly opposed same-sex marriages famously known as 'gay marriages'.
Lawrence Nyaanga while speaking in Kisii town on Monday termed gay marriages as a curse and abomination.
He said the Catholic church will never support the gay marriages.
"God created a man and a woman. Nowhere in the Bible, it is written people of same sex to marry each other. Members of the clergy should stand firm and oppose the gay marriages," he stated.
According to Nyaanga, gay marriage is a disease which will only be cured through guidance and counseling for those individuals with intentions to get into same-sex marriages.
"As a church, we are willing to offer free counseling to those having thoughts of entering into same-sex marriages because the church tradition doesn't allow such marriages," he added.
Nyaanga appealed to parents not to recognize gay marriages.
"Parents should not accept their children to enter into same-sex marriages. How can a man marry another man? Are men going to give birth? Gay marriages should not be allowed at all cost," said the priest.
