Kisumu High Court judge Fred Ochieng on Tuesday handed the sentence to one Roman Oduor Ogutu, after finding him guilty of pushing Abdallah Yunis out of a moving vehicle in 1995.

The latter died on the spot after being pushed by the tout.

The incident happened in Nairobi on October 08, 1995, after which the accused was handed a death sentence.

“Pushing a passenger to his death was cruel and uncalled for. This impunity orchestrated by the matatu crew must stop,” the judge ruled.

The case came up at the Kisumu High Court after the accused applied for re-sentencing and has now been handed a 30-year-jail term.

The court heard that Ogutu pushed the late out of a moving vehicle because of Sh10 balance.

The late Abdallah gave the tout Sh100 and was to be given a balance of Sh90, but he was handed Sh80 before the two differed.
