Gor fielded their strongest side to take on Everton but missed the services of talisman Jacques Tusiyenge.

Gor Mahia started the match on a good note in the first 10 minutes but faded away as Everton got a grip of the match.

The visitors had an early opportunity to test Everton goalie Maarten Stekelenburg after a cross from the left fell to Sammy Onyango but he couldn't connect well and his shot went wide in the sixth minute.

Nigeria wonderkid Ademola Lookman opened the scoring in the 15th minute, as he tapped home past Boniface Oluoch, beating Karim Nizigiyimana for the ball after a superb pass across the goal from Cenk Tosun.

On 23rd minute, Gor got their first corner, which was delivered by Shafiq Batambuze but only for Yerry Mina to clear it at the near post resulting into a counter attack.

Youngster Kieran Dowell shot into the bottom corner with his right foot after picking a loose ball from Onyango's tackle from the resultant counter-attack to make it 2-0.

On the 32nd minute, George Onyango tried a solo effort to dribble past Everton defence line and set up a shooting chance but he blazed his effort wide into the stand.

Gor Mahia's clear chance came on the 57th minute as Mustapha failed to tap home in an empty net from a loose ball as Joao rose to the occasion to deny Odhiambo after Francis Kahata nice delivery.

Gor Mahia made quick sub, replacing Mustapha with Kevin Omondi while Peter Odhiambo replaced Oluoch in goal.

Everton Joao Virginia replaced Maarten while Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert- Lewin rested for James McCarthy and Oumar Niasse.

Kyle John came in for Phil Jagielka, Anthony Gordon rested Kieran Dowell and Nathan Broadhead came in for goal scorer Ademola Lookman.

Gor Mahia also gave Shaban Odhoji, Humprey Mieno, Lawrence Juma, Bernard Ondiek, Wesley Onguso, Charles Momanyi and Raphael Asudi a chance to taste a feel of the Mersey side.

Despite the changes, the toffees were not yet done with K'Ogalo as they ran riot and added two quick goals through subs Nathan Broadhead and Oumar Niasse in the 87th and 88th minute.

The game ended 4 - 0 in favour of Everton, even as Gor Mahia rued for the absence of their key striker Rwandese Jacques Tusiyenge, who failed to travel due to Visa hitches.
